Broadcast Notes And Prediction Recaps From Tiger Pregame Show

By Scott Rhymer

First, as a reminder, I join Mickey Plyler every Friday morning at 6:40 a.m. on WCCP 104.9 FM to break down the upcoming Clemson game. This week, Mickey and I will recap the big win over Furman and preview the much anticipated game vs. Florida State.

The Tiger Pregame Show, driven by D&D Ford, will hit the road this Saturday, broadcasting live from Bullwinkles in Tallahassee from 2:00 -5:00. Former Tiger Willy Korn and WCCP host Roy Philpott will join Scott Rhymer for our 120th consecutive broadcast live on location where the Tigers play. A huge Clemson crowd is expected at Bullwinkles, so plan to arrive early and enjoy lunch in the climate controled saloon while you listen to the Tiger Pregame Show with other Clemson fans.

We have interviews with Dabo Swinney, Chad Morris, Brent Venables, and several key players that will have an impact on the game. Will Vandervort will once again provide interviews for the Tiger Pregame Show, allowing fans to hear exactly what the players and coaches are thinking about the upcoming game.

We will all give our Clemson/Florida State prediction in addition to our ACC and SEC locks of the week. Last week, Scott’s ACC Lock Of The Week was Virginia over Georgia Tech, which was incorrect. That drops Scott to 1-2 on the year in locks of the week.

Last week, Willy’s SEC Lock Of The Week was Tennessee over Florida, which was also incorrect. That makes Willy 2-1 on the year in locks of the week.

Willy Korn picked Clemson over Furman by a score of 65-13, which is a differential of 30 points.

Scott Rhymer picked Clemson over Furman by a score of 48-14, which is a differential of 14 points.

Roy Philpott picked Clemson over Ball State by a score of 44-14, which is a differential of 10 points.

After 3 weeks, Roy has moved into the lead in least point differential, and he also has the most weekly wins.

Roy with 2 weekly wins and a differential of 19 total points.
Scott with 1 weekly win and a differential of 24 total points.
Willy with 0 weekly wins and a differential of 39 total points.

One of the great things about football season is that it offers the opportunity to welcome people to Clemson (either for the first time or after a long time away).

At Clemson, we believe that we have something special and are excited to showcase that special college football environment each time we host a visitor.  Our goal  is very simple:  To be incredible hosts to our visitors and provide the ultimate game day experience.

There is an additional buzz in the air for Week 2 at Clemson, as we host the the Auburn Tigers and their fans for what should be an electric game day weekend with two Top 15 football teams in an ACC vs. SEC match-up in prime time!  We hope that your trip here will be exciting, memo…

Construction Of The North Upper Deck In 1983

(Photos Uploaded By Alan Cutts)
Today’s photos are a series of shots during the construction of the North Upper Deck in 1983.

The North Upper Deck is comprised of 22,500 yards of concrete, 2,200 Tons of reinforcing steel, 3,000 tons of asphalt, 5,800 gallons of paint, and 60,000 pounds of aluminum seating

The North Upper Deck height is 13.36 stories and the length is 560 feet. The total cost of the North Upper Deck was $13.5 million

To illustrate the quality of the investment of the upper deck.  The $13.5 million dollar investment is recovered in just 3 years (7 home games per year) in ticket sales.  Each game Clemson sells out the North Upper Deck, over $600,000 goes towards Clemson Athletics.

The North Upper Deck is slightly larger than the South Upper Deck. The reason for this is simple. Engineers had more room to build behind the North Upper Deck than they did behind the South Upper Deck (with Cemetery Hill behind the South). This al…
