November 6th Clemson Historic Picture Of The Day

Bob Bradley and Jerry Arp

(Photo Uploaded By Alan Cutts)

Today’s photo is of Bob Bradley and Jerry Arp posing as many of the football players did back in that era for their Media Guide pictures. In an ironic way, Bradley and Arp were poking fun at the very pictures they used to create Media Guides in that era.

Bradley worked 502 consecutive football games during his career at Clemson and was presented the Order of the Palmetto by the Governor's office after his death. Bradley redefined the field of sports information in 1979 when, under his direction, the Clemson Sports Information Department won nine national awards for its brochures and press guides. The Press Box at Clemson is named after Bradley.

Jerry Arp also worked in Sports Information at Clemson in the late 1970’s. Arp went to Texas A&M in 1980 to gain more experience in the profession and was tragically killed in a car accident in June of 1980. Arp is buried in Hendersonville, where he grew up. He has a Tiger Paw on one side of his marker and a Texas A&M logo on the other side.
